Japanese Transaction Customs: Causes and Future

Abstract

In this paper I shall try to explain the phenomenon of the characteristically Japanese style of business transaction (secs. I and II). I shall also aim to predict its future (sec. 111), and offer an evaluation on the subject (sec. IV). One caveat: Since I am only a philosopher interested in this topic as a theorist, and have not undertaken any empirical research myself, my remarks are based on research by other scholars and common knowledge among Japanese
