Abstract

The efforts conducted in this paper represent an attempt at exploring and compiling the terminology and different aspects of design regarding microgrid technology. The first item investigates microgrid quantifying terminology according to three well defined metrics i.e., remoteness, nature of the output and coupling configurations. The scope is then extended to include the topologies of power converters involved in the construction of said structures as well as L, LC and LCL filters design. Lastly, power sharing strategies are briefly mentioned. This study is by no means comprehensive, other literature and solutions proposed by a multitude of studies relevant to microgrids development are pointed out throughout the paper.
