Abstract

On the basis of hydrodynamic equations, we calculate a steady-state electron density profile in a spherical semiconductor-metal core-shell nanostructure of small size and the frequency dependence of its dipole moment induced by external optical radiation. It is shown that resonant absorption in the boundary layer between materials can lead to a noticeable decrease in the quality factor of plasmon resonances.
