The second harmonic generation in E-plane waveguide on an inhomogeneous film with quadratic nonlinearity

Abstract

An E-plane waveguide loaded by transversally inhomogeneous nonlinear film is considered. Effects of the second harmonic generation are theoretically investigated. System of nonlinear equations for amplitudes of time harmonics is obtained. Phenomenon of resonant increasing of amplitude of the higher harmonic caused by combination of nonlinearity and transversal inhomogeneity of the film is discovered. Reason of numeric instability is revealed. Ways for overcoming instability of numeric algorithm for "optimal" case are found.
