A brief (and highly selective) history of the Institute of Paper Conservation

Abstract

Summary The article presents a brief history of the Institute of Paper Conservation, originally formed as the Paper Group (of the United Kingdom Group of the International Institute for Conservation) as it was then known, from its inception in 1976 to the present day. The authors have drawn on personal memories and those of some of the members who were involved with the group from its first, tentative beginnings through to its present existence as a world-wide organization of professionally accredited conservators.
