Abstract

The authors propose a novel protocol called slot preuse distributed queue dual bus (SP-DQDB), which is an extension of the DQDB. It increases the efficiency of the DQDB protocol by improving the utilization of the bus bandwidth in DQDB networks. The proposed protocol is particularly well-suited for the case when information transfer between neighboring nodes is more likely than that between remote nodes.
