Abstract

The paper presents a fuzzy logic controller (FLC) for speed control of permanent-magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) drive. With the advent of the vector control methods, PMSM can be operated like separately excited dc motor in high performance applications. The complexity of PI controller tuning and high response time is overcome by using fuzzy logic controller, which has less response time and high accuracy without any mathematical calculations. The proposed PMSM drive based on using a fuzzy logic controller for the speed closed loop and two conventional PI controllers for the current closed loops. The performance of the proposed PMSM drive is simulated. The advantages of the proposed PMSM drive are confirmed by the simulation results.
