Sevelamer showed a mean decrease in HbA1c and lipid profile as compared to calcium carbonate (-0.57 + 45, -8.35 ± 9.006, -1.40 ± 7.07, -4.20 ± 4.26, vs -0.08 ± 0.21, 0.10 ± 2.51, 0.62 ± 1.03, 1.00 ± 1.55). However there was a mean rise in C-reactive protein.
