Abstract

The authors focus on the problem of internodal link queueing in integrated fast packet networks. The queueing discipline used to multiplex packets onto an internodal link is an important element in the overall bandwidth management of an integrated fast packet network. The characteristics of and quality of service required by different traffic classes are reviewed and used as the basis for comparing alternative queueing disciplines.
