Abstract

Small transformers have different external characteristics in contrast to large and middle power transformers. The cause of this phenomenon is a different relationship between the parameters of the components of the short-circuit equivalent impedance. In small transformers short-circuit equivalent resistance is usually greater than the short-circuit equivalent leakage reactance. This causes the change in voltage to be greater for a resistive than for an inductive load.
