Abstract
Radio-over-fiber (RoF) is a promising backhaul technique for upcoming 5G wireless technology. Taking advantage of the optical diversity, generation of stable high frequency radio signals greatly simplifies base stations. This paper proposes a new remote delivery scheme of uplink carrier that simplifies incoherent millimeter-wave RoF systems significantly. Numerical and Simulation results of a full duplex 2.5 Gbps NRZ system show desirable bit error rate at signal to noise ratio of 18.5 and 21.7 for downlink and uplink data respectively in presence of 20 km single mode fiber. The findings establish a new carrier delivery scheme which greatly benefits the future 5G technology in terms of simplicity and cost.
