Abstract
Amid various challenges of utilizing cloud computing, security has become the key concern for cloud computing adoption. Although technology is being progressively used in aiding student learning and enhancing business processes in tertiary institutions, certain security aspects are hindering the decisions of cloud usage. In this research, the challenges and perceptions of cloud-cyber security within tertiary colleges were investigated. The study used Vhembe TVET college as its case and adopted the UTAUT theory to explain these insights. A conceptual framework was developed to demonstrate the cloud-cyber security challenges and perceptions of its adoption by students in tertiary colleges. Quantitative method was used to analyze data gathered from sampled students through structured questionnaires. The results of the study can be used to clarify the security aspects of cloud computing in higher educational institutions and determine the suitability of using cloud cyber-security within the context TVET college. The findings suggested that majority of the students were keen towards adopting cloud-cyber security. The results suggested that lack of physical control of data is a key challenge of adopting cloud-cyber security.
