It simulates real defects occur in the actual inspection. Challenging factor in manufacturing weld defect is creating realistic defects. The methods in this study are deliberately to produce poor weldment and accommodate certain weld defect such as lack of fusion, porosity, slag inclusion, and crack. In this study, lack of fusion is successfully created by manipulating welding parameter and welding technique to accommodate non-fusion weld. Applying impurities prior welding can create porosity and slag inclusion in the weldment. Cracks are manufactured by depositing high carbon content along with a section of weld pass.
