Abstract

This paper proposes a new network system architecture for a time-aware service on the photonic transport network system. The proposed system coordinates between the management plane using centralized management systems and the control plane using distributed control systems via generalized multi-protocol label switching (GMPLS). An interworking scheme between the management plane and the control plane for reserved optical path and real-time optical path provisioning is introduced. A scheme is also discussed that synchronizes the network resource status managed by a network resource manager (NRM) to the current network resource status. A new technique is proposed for re-designing the reserved optical paths according to the changes in the current network resources. The management of a real-time optical path through cooperation of the management and control planes is presented.
