Abstract
Quality of Service (QoS) refers to the possibility of networks to offer different services. Because nowadays we have an evolution of wireless customer's requests, it is needed to pay attention to QoS in WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network) standards. Thus, in this paper, we have analyzed the QoS of WLAN standards 802.11g and 802.11n, since they are most commonly standards used today. In order to evaluate the QoS, we need to consider some parameters that affect directly QoS. In this paper, we have considered data dropped because of buffer overflow, media access delays, retransmission attempts as well as traffic received by end station. The quality of these standards is measured setting up 4 different scenarios under the same OPNET (Riverbed) project. Through these scenarios we came up to the right conclusions about the performance of these standards for different traffic load conditions.
