Microwave Moisture Measurement System

Abstract

A microwave moisture-measuring system based on phase (dielectric constant) monitoring is described. The system is insensitive to amplitude variations and is being mechanically integrated with a production line. A strip-line sensor configuration is used. It has been designed having in mind a particular application, the monitoring and control of the moisture content of a moving stream of tobacco, but it could be equally applied to other materials or production processes.
