A Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generator (PMSG) is used for generation of constant speed driven wind power and solar panels are used for generation of DC power from the Sun as the primary source. A DC/DC boost converter is used for extracting solar electricity to the loads using Maximum power point tracking (MPPT). Battery storage system (BSS) is incorporated so that it can work as a source as well as load depending on the power demands. This study aims to review the progress made in the implementation of microgrid management systems including solar PV and wind turbine focusing on microgrid energy management strategies and principles.
