Abstract

Driven by the motivation of new design recipe for miniaturized high-performance antennas, coupled patches are introduced as new design freedom to enhance the adaptability and functionality of microstrip patch antennas (MPAs) without compromising their size. Here, we have summarized a few strategies for designing the coupled microstrip patch antennas, proposing several examples with different advantages. A brief review of the recent progress is also presented to address the unique technical merits of this type of antenna.
