Abstract

cisTEM is optimized to run on CPUs; GPUs are currently not supported. It has its own parallelization scheme that is independent of common architectures such as openMPI. Furthermore, it can run on a local workstation and utilize high-performance computing environments (e.g. a computer cluster) by remotely executing compute jobs. All that is required is that all machines (local workstation, cluster login and compute nodes) have access to the same file system (i.e. paths to data files and the cisTEM installation directory are the same everywhere) and, in case a cluster is used, that the login node is accessible via ssh.
