Abstract

Load profiles that characterise neighbourhoods can be usefully constructed using both detailed measurement data from mid-voltage stations and neighbourhood population density. This neighbourhood characterisation allows for the identification of similar mid-voltage stations and can help inform the roll-out of, amongst other topics, advanced measurement equipment. Neighbourhood population density and address density are found to be relatively simple and moderately good descriptors for load profile class compared to a large number of other characteristics. A novel classification for neighbourhood density is created that matches cable density and time durations curves observed in the neighbourhoods.
