Abstract

Electric motor shaft position information is one of the most important data in an electric powertrain in order to, accurately, control the speed and torque of the motor. The resolver can reflect the motor shaft position through a signal processing system, called Resolver to Digital Conversion (RDC). In this paper, the different RDC methods with sinusoidal, square-wave and pulse excitation are reviewed and compared. In addition, an all-digital RDC system with the different excitation waveforms is simulated in MATLAB/SIMULINK and discussed in detail.
