Abstract

A Modular reading of the classical temple. AJA, 105, p. 675-713). Abstract:This article aims to review and criticize the controversial article published by Mark Wilson Jones in 2001 (Doric measure and architectural design 2: A Modular reading of the classical temple. AJA, 105, p. 675-713). In his research, the author sought to demonstrate, from the analysis of ten classical temples, that the modular system of architectural design for the Greek Doric temple, reported by Vitruvius in his Architecture Treaty (book VI), was already used by Greek architects since the second quarter of the 5th century BC – long before what was believed. To address the issue, we divided this article into two parts. First, we presented a biography for each temple, thus contextualizing these architectural structures; and then, from various tables of our own authorship, we analyzed the database presented by that author. We concluded the pertinence of the hypothesis with several observations.
摘要:本文旨在回顾和批评马克·威尔逊·琼斯(Mark Wilson Jones) 2001年备受争议的文章《多里克测量与建筑设计2:古典神庙的模块化解读》(Doric measure and architecture design 2: A Modular reading of the classical temple)。 (Doric measure and architecture design 2: A Modular reading of the classical temple)。
