In this paper, aiming at the shortcomings of the existing distribution network evaluation index, we follow the general principle of index building to establish a comprehensive evaluation index system of power supply margin in distribution network, which includes four aspects: power supply capacity of the distribution network, investment economy, matching of the upper and lower levels and the balance of load. The index system is aimed at studying power supply capacity as the centre, combining other factors as an aid, to conduct a comprehensive scientific assessment for the distribution network. The significance of each index in the system is explained in detail. Then, based on a typical power supply model in a certain area of China, the application of index system and evaluation method is analysed.
