Abstract

The high brightness infrared synchrotron radiation facility at the National Synchrotron Light Source, Brookhaven National Laboratory, was turned on in May 1987. We describe in detail the experimental facilities provided on this source from the near infrared to the millimeter region. Theoretical calculations indicate that this source should be 100 to 1000 times brighter than a black body source in the range 40μm to 1 cm. We will report preliminary measurements of the beam intensity and source characteristics.
