Abstract

This paper proposes a control technique for a Dual active bridge (DAB) based Solid State transformer (SST). An input folder circuit, DAB DC/DC converter, and output unfolder circuit comprise the proposed converter topology. This article analyzes soft-switching conditions and transformer current stress for DAB based SST topology at different load conditions and suggests an optimal control path. The proposed control path is created by choosing the ideal set of control variables, thus extending the ZVS range and lowering current stress. The traditional Phase shift modulation (PSM) method is compared with the proposed control strategy, and the results show improved performance.
