Abstract
In recent years, it has been pointed out that the power quality of a distribution system is deteriorating due to the increase of harmonics in power systems. This is thought to be causally related to the diversification of loads due to the advancement of power electronics technology and the increase in the number of distributed generators for home use in consideration of their impact on the environment. Harmonics not only degrade the power quality but also cause various additional problems. As one of the countermeasures to such problems, our laboratory has proposed a method for estimating the harmonic sources by separating the harmonic currents flowing in distribution lines. However, the method has the problem that it cannot estimate the harmonic sources in a distribution system containing static capacitors. In this paper, the authors propose a method to estimate not only the harmonic sources but also the installation points of SC in the distribution system.
