The average GIF will load 8 times faster after it has been converted to video formats, and users who don't support HTML5 Video will have access to the original GIF. Converting GIF to video formats offer many benefits and little to no drawbacks (as long as the original GIF remains available). Abstract

The paper presents a method of bridging the gap between GIF and HTML5 Video by providing both - allowing much faster content delivery and saved bandwidth.
