Isolation of control malfunctions in a digital computer

Abstract

The use of a test program to indicate that a digital computer is operating correctly is well known. While the locating of malfunctions in the Arithmetic section of a computer by test programs was thoroughly discussed by Hoberg and Blumenthal, as early as 1948, the location of control malfunctions by computer programs is equally as practical.
