Abstract
Near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) is a non-invasive technique for analysis of various substances, such as agricultural products and food, by using near-infrared light. Since the late 1970s, NIRS has also been developed into a powerful technique for biomedical applications. Here, NIRS and near-infrared optical tomography (NIROT) in medicine are described.
