TEXT INCOMPLETENESS AS A PART OF THE AUTHOR’S IDEA: DOSTOEVSKY AND FANTASY LITERATURE

Abstract

The article concerns the problem of the unfinished text in F.M. Dostoevsky’s novel The Brothers Karamazov and in the fantasy literature of the 20 th century as a form of dialogue with readers. A comparison of works and remarks made by the authors whose works remained unfinished for one reason or another demonstrates that we can speak of a certain creative idea when an intentionally unfinished work is concerned, not just an incomplete one. An unfinished piece draws the reader into the creative process.
