Abstract

This paper presents a novel technique to obtain asymmetrical output voltage from the automobile alternator windings. The goal is reached with the help of a three-phase power factor correction circuit. The output voltage levels proposed are 14 V and 42 V. The first one is used to supply the battery and the standard electrical loads within the vehicle such as control units and sensors. The other level could be used to supply heavier loads that require more power. This kind of loads is frequently found in new vehicles.
