Abstract
The paper is focused on numerical analysis of inductive elements used for high current applications (e.g. applications with superconductors). The subject of the analysis is solenoidal coil with ferromagnetic core. The coil is analyzed in respect of geometry data having its equivalent electrical parameters (load current and inductance) fixed. Some aspects of numerical modelling based on 2D approach is discussed. Two different models are taken into consideration - axisymmetric and planar one. Nonlinear properties of magnetic core are taken into account. Results calculated for both types of models are compared and the influence of model simplification on the results is discussed. The analysis is based on commercial software ANSYS and it is carried out using scripts of ANSYS Parametric Design Language (APDL).
