Switched simplex high bit rate services in today's residential environment

Abstract

Critical technologies required to support high bit rate and broadband services in the near and long term are discussed. Specifically, the loop requirements for residential video on demand are presented. The use of asymmetrical digital subscriber lines and Motion Picture Experts Group coding and switching systems to support video on demand are described.<>
