Abstract

In this paper, a hybrid multi-user massive MIMO system operating on the mmWave frequency is considered. To reduce the heavy beam training overhead for such a massive MIMO system, we propose a 3D beam training algorithm, which estimates the azimuth and elevation of the angle of arrival (AoA) and departure (AoD) between the base station (BS) and the mobile stations (MSs).
