This review paper presents the various aspects of wind energy based conversion system (WECS), various types of a grid connected wind turbine systems are equipped with different generators, which include the Synchronous generators (SG), Induction generators (IG), Permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG) and doubly fed induction generators(DFIG). Significant review of control strategies for the generator side and grid side converter systems is presented. Abstract

In recent years, for an economical and cleaner energy society, the world has been looking for the alternatives of fossil fuels, and wind driven energy systems have been turning attention as a better electricity source. Therefore, efficient and consistent utilization of wind energy has been an important issue.
