Match or mismatch between English instructors’ and students’ beliefs about feedback on writing (study from Turkey)

Abstract

Going beyond the heated discussion about the necessity of feedback on writing, the aims of the study were twofold; to investigate students’ and English instructors’ beliefs about feedback on writing and examine whether there is a match or mismatch between them. In the light of the questionnaire data, the study revealed that there are both matches and mismatches between English instructors’ and students’ beliefs about error correction and feedback practices on writing. The study suggests some useful implications for teacher education programs and educational institutions.
