Two carrier phase estimation schemes, decision-aided maximum likelihood and M-th power, are considered. Bit error rate (BER) of the receiver with phase noise, amplitude noise and ADC quantization noise is theoretically analyzed. Monte-Carlo (MC) simulation results show that 5 bit ADC resolution is sufficient for both phase estimated schemes with less than 0.2 dB SNR penalty compared with the case of infinite ADC resolution.
