Abstract
Condition assessment of insulating oils based on critical properties is of prime importance to evaluate the suitability towards high voltage transformer application. In the recent development, high giant dielectric CaCu3Ti4O12 (CCTO) nanopowder attracted researchers for use in development of nanofluid due to its high permittivity with reduced loss even at higher temperatures. Till-date, the condition assessment of high dielectric nanofluids are in nascent stage and an attempt has been taken in this study to compare the performance of mineral oil and natural ester oil based CCTO nanofluids at 0.01 vol.%. Results proves that, natural ester oil based CCTO nanofluids show enhanced dielectric and decreased PDIV values than mineral oil based CCTO nanofluid. Therefore, it is suggested that natural ester oils based high dielectric CCTO nanofluids of 0.01 vol. % may be used as an alternative and suitable insulation for the power industries.
