Abstract

Spectral and Spatial fragmentation in Space Di-vision Multiplexed-Elastic Optical Networks (SDM-EON) leads to unfair bandwidth allocation among connection requests with heterogeneous data rate demands. We present a core reservation-based fair bandwidth provisioning Routing, Core and Spectrum Allocation (RCSA) algorithm for heterogeneous bandwidth traffic, ensuring efficient utilization of resources for an uncoupled Multi-Core Fiber based SDM network. Simulation experiments confirm the better performance of the proposed algorithm compared to the benchmark algorithm in terms of bandwidth blocking probability and fairness.
