Abstract
Since the last decade, the automotive sector has been facing many challenges related to safety. The development of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) is a crucial challenge that the automotive field is currently facing. In addition, the establishment of fast and reliable communication technologies, such as 5G, and potential information regarding adherence conditions through smart tyres, are leading to a rapid evolution of a new generation of connected ADAS (C-ADAS). In this paper, a novel Connected Curve Speed Warning (CCSW) considering information coming from 5G and smart tyres is developed. The system is eventually tested and compared to a non-equipped vehicle in a virtual environment considering different adherence conditions. Testing results show the advantages CCSW adds in terms of safety and driving stability.
