Abstract

IEEE 802.11 is the WLAN standard for providing moderate to high speed data communication in a short range generally within a building. IEEE 802.16 (WiMAX) is the standard for broadband WMANs which can provide Internet access over a long range outdoor environment susceptible to fading inside buildings. The logical topology to extend the coverage of the broadband WiMAX is to integrate it with WLAN at customer premises equipments (CPE).
