An Open Approach To Providing Multimedia Services

Abstract

DGM&S is currently working with a number of major telephone and technology companies to combine voice and other multimedia technologies into a single multivendor AIIN platform. This is being achieved by "standardizing" the architecture of the Intelligent Peripheral (IP)/Service Node (SN), and ensuring that the interfaces between the SN/IP components are defined in a manner that conforms to industry standards. The implementation of such a multi-vendor, hardware independent, multimedia platform places emphasis on open interfaces, both internal and external, at the same time ensuring that the platform meets the functional, performance, and reliability aspects of a network element. This presentation shows how this may be achieved by using an IP Controller (IPC) equipped with the DGM&S OMNI soft platform.
