Abstract

Available peak power of Li-ion battery is crucial index describing ability of consistent energy supply. Among constraints to obtain the index, voltage limit is the most restrictive because of additional voltage drop by impedance. For short time prediction, linear approximation of the open-circuit voltage (OCV) has advantage of simple calculation. However, the prediction of the OCV has large errors especially for the long time interval. Therefore, this paper proposes piecewise-linear model of the OCV for prediction of the available peak power. The simulation and experimental result shows that the proposed method has significantly lower errors than the linear approximation.
