The EMC effect: Asymptotic freedom with nuclear targets

Abstract

General features of the EMC effect are discussed with the framework of quantum chromodynamics as expressed via the operator product expansion and asymptotic freedom. These techniques are reviewed with emphasis on the target dependence.
