Abstract
The refractive indices and absorption coefficients of four beryllia (BeO) ceramic samples have been measured between 4 and 18 cm−1 with a Michelson interferometer. The index, n, follows a linear relationship with density, p, over the range 2.8 < p < 3.0 g/cc, and thus exhibits a density-dependent index variation of about 3 percent.
