Abstract
We have carried out analysis of dynamic network traffic for WDM networks through simulation in order to reduce blocking probability. Our proposed algorithm optimally utilizes the available network resources by reducing control overheads. Previously the algorithm was proposed for source-initiated reservation with global state information. It was proved that source initiated reservation performs better than the destination reservation protocol but there are a number of problems with maintaining global state information by a single node. We have proposed a source-initiated reservation algorithm without global state information that effectively manages traffic, along with reducing overheads in the network thereby improving the efficiency of the entire network. Blocking in the network is based on performance of each link independent of the other. We have simulated three different types of networks such as ARPA net, NSF net and Pak Academic Intranet. Simulations have proved that the proposed algorithm performs better in different network topologies
