Glossing conventions

Abstract

The main principle of glossing used in this book is that only the information crucial for the interpretation of the example is provided. For instance, if nonmanuals are not relevant to the illustrated phenomenon, they are not marked. The same is true for prosodic boundaries, and the activity of the weak hand. This decision was taken for the sake of clarity and space. Glosses in small.caps are approximate translation of signs.
