Overview and Trends for Application of AI Methods for Product Design

Abstract

The integration and application of different AI methods such as, neural networks, fuzzy logic, ontology, genetic algorithms, and nearest neighbor help to solve distinct challenges in the product design process. Overall, these give the ability to adapt quickly to market or product changes and make each step of the production process exchange information thus the cooperative work results in an efficient and smooth process. In this paper, we overview the state of the art of different AIdriven product design methods and classify them according to the selected five schools of thought. We discuss their usage depending on the application for the product design process.
