The state of schooling and the formation of the clergy before the proclamation of the Code of Canons of the Eastern Churches

Abstract

The article analyzes the state of schooling and formation of clergy before the proclamation of the Code of Canons of the Eastern Churches. The work aims to clarify the main approaches and principles to the formation of the clergy and the state of schooling during the historical period preceding the proclamation of the Code of Canons of the Eastern Churches. In particular, the author analyzed the main stages of priestly formation. Reforming of educational and upbringing processes of formation of priests is considered. Emphasis is placed on the peculiarities of the formation and education of priests at different stages of historical development.
