Abstract
High-resolution geophysical data can aid in the study of faults by providing subsurface information about the geologic structure. The paper presents the results of a GPR investigation of fracture-dislocations and tension zones in the Russian North-East (Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), Anabar region), which contain structural traps for minerals. It is shown that under conditions of indistinct geomorphological features the problem of detection of sites with concentrations of mineral resources confined to tectonic faults in placers of the cryolithozone can be solved using areal GPR investigation. To automatically process a great body of data it is proposed to evaluate the frequency distribution in GPR signals based on the time-frequency characteristics of data processed using wavelet analysis, which allows the detection of rock inside tectonic faults. Comparison with data of other geophysical methods is made and a means of their interconnection is proposed.
